4 ‘n’ INFP, that doesn't fit into a box.

It is no secret that I am an INFP and a number 4 on the enneagram, but firstly, I am Nikkita. Child of God, daughter of the King. It can become so easy to fit ourselves into every spectrum of these ‘types’. For example, we may discover our Myers-Briggs type and assume I’m definitely ALL that - great if you truly believe and know so but if like me, you read the enneagram 4, and realise that you have never struggled with depression. It is okay to say so. It doesn’t mean that you aren’t a 4, it means that not all of you can fit into this particular box and it shouldn’t.

Another reason why I love the enneagram, is the beautiful opportunity to explore your “wing“, the test understands that you cannot fit your whole identity into this one type or number. When God created us, He made us unique and individuals (even if you’re a twin!), He took time to place within us the attributes He knew we’d need for the purpose we have here on Earth.

Are you currently struggling with people fitting you into a box? Are you putting yourself in that box?

Before we attempt to figure out what our enneagram type is, or our Myers-Briggs type is, let’s figure out who we are in Jesus Christ.

  1. You are a child of God.

Galatians 3:26 “for in Jesus Christ you are all sons of God, through faith.“

John 1:12 “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.“

  2. His love for you is steadfast.

Psalm 36:7 “How precious is your steadfast love, O God.“

  3. Adopted into the family of God

Ephesians 1:5 “He predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of His will.“

  4. Born for a unique purpose.

Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.“

  5. You are chosen

1 Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.“

I have said all this to simply say, it is God who define us and determines who we are. Enneagrams, Myers-Briggs’ and so many others are GREAT resources that should only bring us closer to the source - that is the Lord. He is aware of the ENTIRE picture and therefore understands exactly how he’s created us. You and I don’t fit in a box, so let’s not force ourselves into one but search for God because He will not abandon us (Psalm 9:10)

I pray in Jesus’ name that we can see how God has created us, heirs to his Kingdom, chosen for a purpose and most of all loved beyond our wildest dreams. Amen.
