Where do I find my beauty?
When I was 12 years old, my orthodontist told me that I should probably get surgery on my jaw so that I can have a pretty smile. He went on to tell me that my current smile might knock my confidence. insert blank stare emoji face here, I know right? Rude. The strangest thing about it all, until this point I never realised that my smile was deemed ‘less than’.
After, this appointment - I remember noticing my smile. I remember loving it. I remember the way it made me, me. I also remember the way I was never going to let some orthodontist allow me to think that how God created me was anything less than.
A few years on, a song by J Cole came out… (whether you listen to him or not, these lyrics summed up quite a huge portion of life for me. They state “stare in the mirror but its clear that you can't face what's wrong, no need to fix what God already put his paint brush on!!”
Amen! God made no mistakes.
It can be hard to look at ourselves and find that God didn’t make a mistake when he made me “too hairy”, “too ______________ (<— insert your word here). I know sometimes it’s easier to block God out than focus on His truth. So I thought I’d share a few bible passages that are filled with encouragement in letting you know just how amazing you are, sister friend.

Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her; those who hold her fast are called blessed.” - Proverbs 3:15-18 (ESV)
“I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.” - Psalm 139:14 (ESV)
“And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfilment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.” - Luke 1:45 (ESV)

I pray that this post brings you one step closer to appreciating your undeniable beauty. The thing that makes you uniquely, you. The person God never made any mistakes with. The person whose beauty shines brighter than you think. I pray that the Lord continues to walk with you on your journey and remind you that you are a precious child of God, called by name.
