How to say no to a negative lifestyle!

Have you ever met someone whose outlook on life was always negative? They never actually had anything nice to say, or never had any encouragement for your either? Or maybe, this person - sounds like you? Whatever it may be. Let’s talk about it!

After what could be recorded as the worse year of my life. I volunteered at a Christian Camp working with children who had additional needs and I loved every minute of it. I was part of an amazing team who worked so well together, there was so much laughter, friendship and memories made during our week together.

On the very last day, after growing so close with each other. We all begun to speak about the events that we’ve been through and what our journeys that led to this week had been. I remember saying, actually this year has been one of the hardest years of my life because I was dealing with so much. I told them about losing my home, living with my mentor, trying to find a home and so much other things. Then one of my team leaders, looked at me and said - “What? You would never have known that about you - because you smile so much!”

I told her - I could have gone two ways about it. I could have let it consume me or not.

I realised then, that it’s a choice. It’s a choice if we decide to become negative regarding the things we’ve been through, we can become the victim. But let’s not forget that our God - the one who fights for us - is always victorious. He will set our paths straight. But He reminds us that He has a plan for our lives, one to give a future and not to harm us. If so, then we need not be negative regarding the circumstances that surround our lives.

I know. I know it’s hard. I know it’s not what you planned, I know it’s not your fault. I hear you. But we do need to remember, that we can become consumed with negativity too and that my sweet friend, is not how our Father intends for us to live.

He doesn’t want us consumed with bitterness, envy, anger or hatred. Never let your circumstances forget to remind you, that you, are a city on a hilltop that shall not be hidden. You, are the child of the One who redeems and He has not forgotten you.
